Describe how your team put its plan into action. What did you do?
We began by formulating a list of local areas that had fleets of commercial vehicles. We chose fleets over the vehicles of individuals because the vehicles in fleets can be maintained and regulated. We then contacted them individually and narrowed the list down to our local bus lot. We then went twice to the bus lot in order to learn specific information about the buses. We checked the tire pressure of the buses in a portion of the lot. When we compared our results to the recommended level of school bus tire pressure, we saw that the buses were under this level. From here, we decided to suggest a plan to be enforced by the lot managers. We asked that the tire pressure of the buses be measured every Friday; any under-inflated tires should be inflated to the proper level. This should become a mandatory part of the existing maintenance of the buses. We hope that this plan will be enforced, not only at the lot that we visited, but by all bus lots.
